" Very interesting. This got me thinking quite a lot the other day because David and I have started to run these reports, which I call the partners and competitors reports and we use our software, which essentially emulates what a searcher would do.

So it will run right down the key word list let us say there is a 100 core key words you want to work with although it is not limited to that, you will do a search on the major engines and come back with the position of any site that appears to be a partner or a competitor for that key word and tallies it all up and aggregates it and assign an index number to the sites. So in other words you get the report back from the top dog all the down of who is scoring well? Who has the highest visibility in other words?

It is listed by groups of key phrases. So if you run a report for 100 key words it will search for each one of those and then just aggregate all the results. So moreover it is kind of a broad picture of who the big players are in that particular niche and it occurs to me that would be just a perfect place for you to start and if they are not explicit competitors and of course what we have found is that if they are not explicit competitors then they could very well be partners and if I am understanding your approach right that might be the type of the list that you would use to see these folks out and see if they were open to some type of arrangement.
